Welcome
Our aim is to educate dogs and their owners and to promote responsible dog ownership to achieve well-controlled and sociable pets. Our method is based on a positive approach as it is far better to praise and encourage a dog than to rebuke it.
We offer 3 classes :
The “Puppy” (or playgroup) class from about 10 weeks to about 6 months, depending on each puppy’s development. Here we focus mainly on sociability as this is vital for the puppy to grow into a well-balanced adult dog. Puppies are therefore confronted with various different situations such as unusual noises, different obstacles, and “playtime” with other young dogs. These exercises aim to develop the bond and trust between dog and owner. They will also help owner and dog to cope with new and potentially frightening situations for the dog.
The Puppy class also trains owners to motivate their puppies through basic commands; puppies obey the commands while thinking they are playing.
The “Intermediate” class caters for dogs from about the age of 6 months and there is still an emphasis on sociability and reinforcement of the various commands. Most of the work is on lead, with recalls on leading rein, and training of the 3 positions (stand, sit, down).
Dogs move to the “Adult” class as and when they have reached the appropriate stage of development. Here owners are expected to be more disciplined, to be able to control their dogs from a distance and, increasingly, work with their dog without a lead. The level of difficulty of the various exercises depends on the general level of the group.
Please feel welcome to come and see our classes for yourselves in order to get a better idea of how we work.
